39TH ANNUAL SMU AIR LAW SYMPOSIUM
The 39th Annual SMU Air Law Symposium will be held February 24-25, 2005 at the Intercontinental Hotel in Addison, Texas.  If you are involved in aviation litigation or a related field you know this is the premier gathering of the year.  A limited number of sponsorships are still available by contacting Charles Tarpley at 214 350 5381 or catlaw@juno.com.  This is an excellent way to support the SMU School of Law while simultaneously profiling your firm.  Deadline to include a profile of your firm in the symposium brochure is November 15, 2004.

REPORTS OF THE WEEK - The interesting, the educational and stupid pilot tricks.

A GOOD AND A BAD AND UGLY REPORT
Interesting comparison this week of two routine reports.  One a U.K. registered microlight, the other a U.S. registered homebuilt.

The UK report quickly identified major airworthiness issues and issued a safety recommendation.  The final report was issued nine months after the mishap and included details of other similar occurrences and detailed engineering observations.

The US investigator interviewed the pilot/builder approximately two years after the occurrence and issued an inconclusive report.  Shameful.
